There is no better day to celebrate with cake than today. My little business has survived its first year! WOO HOO! There have been failures and bumps, but so many successes that have taken my business to a whole new level. There are quite a few people I need to thank, but they will have to wait for another blog post…haha!
In honor of this awesome day, I have decided to reminisce in some of my favorite cakes and moments from the past 12 months:
The Very First Order
I made this cake for Emmett’s second birthday. His Godmother, Heidi, found me on Facebook. Heidi and Emmett’s mother have been clients throughout the year and I am happy to say that I am making Emmett’s order again this year 🙂 This is also where I made my first cake pops!
The First Wedding Order
I was fortunate to make a wedding cake for one of my bestest friends last Fall. This cake will always be special.

I did these cupcakes for the Let’s Wed Hampton Roads Bridal Luncheon Shoot. I was so honored to do these cupcakes and join the Let’s Wed Vendor List!
It was so much fun to do these characters and watch them go from balls of fondant to body parts to a character!
These are my favorite King and Princess cakes. It was my first time airbrushing gold for the King C cake and using the billow (pillow) effect on the princess cake. I was so happy with how they turned out.
I had a styled shoot which required mini pies and pie pops and I had never made either of them! This was my first attempt at pies and I think they turned out pretty good 🙂

This was my first styled shoot cake and my first marble cake, and it was such a huge deal for me. Fun fact: This styled shoot was actually shot with film!
Favorite Wedding Cake
This wedding cake happened so quickly. My bride, Jacqueline, had a terminally ill mother and had to plan her wedding in less than 30 days. She was constantly traveling from New York (where she lives) to Virginia to take care of wedding details. At her tasting she was running behind so she had to bring the whole crew with her – mom, aunt, grandmother, and daughter. Looking back, I can’t believe I never realized there were four generations of women sitting at that table 🙂 When I delivered this cake, Jacqueline couldn’t have been happier. Truly one of the sweetest brides I have ever met.
I actually just did this cake a couple of weeks ago. A bride ordered it for her groom’s birthday. This is by far my favorite cake to date! I love the amount of detail I was able to put into it. Their wedding cake is coming soon 😀
So, those are some of my favorites and most memorable from my first year in business. It has been a great year and year 2 will be better. I can’t wait!
